As the calendar flipped to 2023, OMEARA couldn't have anticipated the path she was about to embark on. Little did she know that by February of that year, she would be in the process of recording an EP that would resonate deeply with her listeners. The narrative begins with a nostalgic twist. OMEARA's journey started when she reconnected with an old band from her past. Reminiscing about their days of performing in the mid-2000s, they decided to collaborate on a song in 2022, using the modern medium of WhatsApp to bridge the geographical gap. This collaboration rekindled OMEARA's passion for music, leading her to make a pivotal decision.
In an effort to contribute fully to the songwriting process, OMEARA invested in a laptop and the music production software Ableton Live. The result was a song that exceeded their expectations, and the decision was made to take their collaboration to the next level. Gathering in London at the dawn of February 2023, they aimed to bring their creation to life in a recording studio.
In the anticipation leading up to this momentous occasion, armed with her newfound recording equipment, OMEARA spent her evenings translating her musical ideas into tangible recordings. For the first time in her life, she had the tools she needed to capture the melodies and lyrics that had once only existed within her mind. Despite her musical prowess, OMEARA had been hesitant to share her creations with the world due to a touch of timidity. This changed when, just days before her trip to London, she cautiously unveiled her music demos to her partner. The trip to London proved transformative for both OMEARA and her partner, as they witnessed her perform her songs live for the first time. This pivotal moment convinced her partner of her undeniable talent, leading to a push for her to record her own music.
The stars aligned as OMEARA found herself in the capable hands of a team that understood her artistic vision. The EP was brought to life at Strongroom Studios in London, under the guidance of the accomplished Latin Grammy-nominated engineer, mixer, and producer Carlos Mas. The EP's mastering was entrusted to the globally celebrated John Davis at Metropolis Studios, further elevating its sonic quality. Fuelled by the energy of her supportive team, OMEARA is set to return to London in July to continue her creative journey. The EP 'Desert Heart' is only the beginning, with four new songs on the horizon for 2023. Delving into the inspiration behind her songs, it becomes clear that OMEARA's artistic voice is one of raw honesty and emotional depth. The EP comprises three love songs that dissect modern relationships through a thought-provoking lens. 'Take It Back' opens the collection, serving as a one-sided conversation where the singer confesses to a partner that their love was never genuine, highlighting the pressure of societal expectations. 'Wolves' emerges as an anthem of triumph over adversity, celebrating finding true love after facing individuals of predatory nature. 'Sleepwalker' the closing track, explores the realm of dating apps and hookup culture, delving into the feelings of self-disdain after yet another unfulfilling romantic encounter. OMEARA's journey from a nostalgic collaboration to the recording studio is an inspiring tale of artistic reawakening and creative liberation. The 'Desert Heart' EP not only marks a significant milestone in her musical career but also reflects the human experience of love, vulnerability, and growth. As 2023 unfolds, music enthusiasts can eagerly anticipate more sonic gems from the ever-evolving OMEARA.
