The highly anticipated new album from The Ilario Ferrari Trio. On the verge of releasing his fourth studio project, pianist and singer Ilario Ferrari has cultivated a distinctive compositional style that fuses contemporary instrumental jazz with soulful vocal harmonies, pop songwriting, classical undertones, and influences drawn from both Indian culture and his Southern Italian roots. This unique blend of genres is beautifully complemented by Ferrari's collaborators: rising jazz talents, drummer Katie Patterson and bassist Charlie Pyne.

The trio’s latest single, Walking on The Yellow Line, accompanied by a visually striking music video, offers a tantalizing preview of the album Above The Clouds. This release follows the international success of their first single, Morning Samba, which has gained airplay on radio stations around the globe, cementing their presence on the international jazz scene.
In Ilario’s own words, Walking on The Yellow Line is “about finding that feeling of belonging—towards a community, a country, and ultimately the whole Earth. The ‘Yellow Line’ represents that fine balance between our need for self-expression and our responsibility toward others and the planet.”
“The ‘Yellow Line’ represents that fine balance between our need for self-expression and our responsibility toward others and the planet.” — Ilario Ferrari
Formed during the global lockdown of 2020, The Ilario Ferrari Trio quickly bonded over their shared musical vision, resulting in the development of their distinctive sound. Their 2021 debut album, Childhood Memories, was met with widespread praise, securing international radio support and propelling them to high-profile performances. These included headlining sets at the Watford Jazz Festival, the London Jazz Festival, Pizza Express Jazz Club, Ecosuoni Festival in Italy, and Jazzahead in Germany.
Set for release via Elsden Music, a respected jazz label based in East London and led by Greg Dowling, Above The Clouds delves deeply into the theme of relationships. It explores our connections to the planet, the profound bonds between Ilario, Charlie, Katie, and their loved ones, and meditates on the balance between elevation and groundedness. This record is a journey—from the perspective of being Above The Clouds while feeling the grounding embrace of Mother Earth. With a mix of vocal-led songs and instrumental compositions, Ferrari and his trio touch upon universal themes of love, loss, and the concept of home.
Above The Clouds is poised to captivate listeners with its beguiling blend of sonic textures, demonstrating The Ilario Ferrari Trio's growing reputation as one of the most exciting groups in contemporary jazz.
