Seoul-born songwriter and producer ROSS 248 returns in 2025 with her new EP, Orbit — a celestial exploration of human relationships and emotional distance, featuring British singer-songwriter Vanessa Murray. The project draws parallels between the invisible forces that bind planets to the Sun and the unseen connections that keep people linked, even when they drift apart.

“We all affect each other in some way in our relationships,” ROSS 248 explains. “Reactions depend so much on emotional distances. So, we’re like planets — sometimes closer, sometimes further away, but still impacting each other. I wanted to use Orbit to express that: how we can float away, but that invisible connection could still be there, hanging on even over a great emotional distance.”
The EP unfolds as an emotional journey through the stages of separation and rediscovery. Opening with “Tell Me Something” and “Say It Louder,” ROSS 248 examines the initial fracture of a breakup and the denial that follows. “Daydream” reflects on memory and longing — a moment of introspection suspended in time. The closing track, “Blinded by Your Light,” reverses the emotional arc, returning to the magnetic pull of new love and the optimism of a renewed orbit.

Visually, the concept extends to the EP’s artwork — depicting a spaceship venturing deeper into the Andromeda Galaxy, symbolizing ROSS 248’s artistic voyage toward her namesake star. Musically, Orbit blends sophisticated pop production with a chilled, atmospheric edge, highlighting Murray’s expressive vocals. Each song radiates with emotional clarity, balancing electronic textures and organic warmth.
Currently based in London, UK, ROSS 248 continues to redefine what South Korean artistry can sound like beyond the conventions of K-pop. Having started her career producing for other Korean acts, she now channels her creativity through her own project, collaborating with a diverse range of British vocalists. Every track she releases is written, produced, and mixed by her — showcasing an evolving sonic identity that’s intimate, cinematic, and deeply human.
With Orbit, ROSS 248 invites listeners to reconsider the gravitational forces that shape love and loss — and to find beauty in the emotional space between.
