A nine-song gothic odyssey exploring pain, rebirth, and the haunting beauty of becoming
Por Ariadna Pinheiro
With the theatrical intensity of a gothic opera and the emotional weight of a personal exorcism, STROMPOLOS unveils his boldest and most intimate work yet: IN THE TIME OF LIES AND ISOLATION. More than just an album, it’s a cinematic ritual — a confessional journey through despair, addiction, memory, and the fragile flickers of redemption that emerge from the ruins.
Produced by Michael Nocny, the album’s nine tracks unfold like a spellbound stage play, each song a velvet curtain pulled back to reveal the raw truth of transformation. STROMPOLOS’s voice — dark, theatrical, and soul-stained — leads listeners through a soundscape where darkwave, gothic electronica, and ambient requiem collide. “This isn’t about trends,” says Strompolos. “It’s for the ones who’ve broken apart and dared to come back different.”
Strompolos crafts a sonic mirror where listeners may catch glimpses of their own haunted selves — fragile, flawed, defiantly alive.
The sonic experience is lush and immersive, blending orchestral elements with brooding electronics and acoustic shadows. It’s a sacred invocation of sorts — a soundtrack for anyone who has found sanctuary in the dark. From ghostly ballads to cinematic crescendos, Strompolos crafts a sonic mirror where listeners may catch glimpses of their own haunted selves — fragile, flawed, defiantly alive.
Born in Chicago and raised in Mississippi, STROMPOLOS brings years of classical training, mythic storytelling, and poetic lyricism to this project. With past collaborations including Reinhold Mack (Queen, Black Sabbath) and Matt Malley (Counting Crows), he has steadily carved out his own realm in the modern gothic scene. IN THE TIME OF LIES AND ISOLATION is not just an album—it’s an invitation to walk through darkness, and come out the other side transformed.
