Levitt, drawing inspiration from the eclectic sounds of The Goat Rodeo Sessions, embarks on a musical journey that showcases his prowess as both a composer and a performer. With a roster of esteemed collaborators including producer Gilad Ronen, guitarist Tal Yahalom, pianist Omri Mor, and cellist Yoed Nir, Levitt weaves a tapestry of sound that is as rich as it is diverse.
The tracks on “The World and Its People” are Levitt originals, co-written and arranged by Ronen, and each one is brought to life through heartfelt performances from all involved. Levitt's previous musical partnerships, particularly his duo albums with Yahalom and collaborations with Mor, have laid the groundwork for this ambitious project, providing a foundation of trust and camaraderie that shines through in every note.
Reflecting on the album's creation, Levitt emphasizes the collaborative nature of the process. “Everybody worked so hard in bringing creative ideas to this session,” he recalls. “The music is very much inspired by our prior interactions—I feel excited about taking our conversation into different styles and opportunities to connect and communicate.”
The sonic landscape of "The World and Its People" is further enhanced by the expertise of mixing engineer Richard King, whose Grammy-winning work on The Goat Rodeo Sessions serves as a source of inspiration for Levitt and his colleagues. Levitt speaks highly of the musicians involved in that project, noting their ability to bring "musical color" to the world with their pure, honest, and luscious sound. For Levitt, "The World and Its People" represents a departure from traditional boundaries, a foray into uncharted musical territory where classical meets country, and improvisation melds seamlessly with folk. It is a testament to Levitt's vision as an artist—to push the boundaries of genre and style in pursuit of musical excellence and emotional resonance. As listeners embark on this sonic journey with Yosef Gutman Levitt and his ensemble, they are invited to explore the richness and diversity of the human experience through the universal language of music. "The World and Its People" is more than just an album; it is a testament to the power of collaboration, creativity, and connection—a celebration of the shared human experience in all its beauty and complexity.
